Establishment of Energy Efficiency and use of energy resources

Egypt and Germany have agreed to intensify their cooperation in the sector of Renewable Energy, energy efficiency in Egypt industry and Environment in the Framework of EG cooperation. Egypt has high potential for energy efficiency; Egypt also has very significant wind energy and abundant solar energy resources.

 
The Joint Committee, abbreviated JCEE is a new form of a cooperation framework with a broad scope of work for a sustainable future of energy efficiency in Egypt industry through dissemination of renewable energy applications and Energy Efficiency technologies. Initiatives to create an institutional framework for energy efficiency in Egypt were in the political debate in Egypt throughout 2008. JCEE working group chairpersons are key resource persons in the discussions on an Energy Efficiency Agency and an Energy Efficiency Law.
 
Energy efficient building and Energy efficient lighting development

Adel Mourtada, expert on energy efficient buildings codes and their implementation summarizes his observations from the National Consultations on energy efficient building in Egypt, jointly held by EU MED ENEC.

 
Egypt Energy Efficiency Program provides secure, reliable and affordable energy services that are fundamental to economic stability and development, and also helps to avoid the difficulties posed by rising energy demand and electricity peak loads.

 
As government considers energy efficient buildings in Egypt an important tool in policies mix, compliance and enforcement must achieve its long identified promise.

 
The workshop heard many institutions and experts of energy efficient building in Egypt was failing to accomplish savings targets due to poor implementation and it is the same for other Egypt Energy Efficiency Programs (for appliances and RE, etc...)

 
The Ministry of Electricity and Energy (MOEE) in cooperation with the Ministry of Finance (MOF) and different municipalities are implementing the plan to make Energy efficient lighting in Egypt. The plan aims at replacing 2 million street lighting bulbs in different streets, squares and public parks in Egypt with Energy efficient lightings.
