Feed in Tariff Energy Consumption Electricity Law  
 
Egypt has a high potential for energy efficiency, very significant Egypt wind energy and abundant solar energy resources. The Government of Egypt is in 2008 defining the policy to tap these resources and safeguard at the same time the affordable energy supply.

 
Current Energy Consumption and Prospects

Industry is the most important final sector Energy consumption in Egypt. In 2005 it consumed approximately 16 Mtoe, mostly natural gas and petroleum products.

Natural gas has, after a fast growth period since 2000, reached a share of close to 40% in 2005, surpassing oil products (approximately 35%).
Electricity law in Egypt is approaching 20%. Renewable in the form of solid bio-energy account for about 4%. Coal, with 1%, is used only for producing oven coke in the iron and steel industry.
 
 
Egyptian projections expect high growth of industrial Energy consumption in Egypt followed by rapid expansion of industrial production. In such business-as-usual scenario, Energy consumption in Egypt could arrive at some 48 Mtoe by 2020.
 
Draft Electricity law in Egypt: Decree of the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt for a Draft Law Promulgating the Electricity law in Egypt, and after the approval of the Cabinet of Ministers the following draft Electricity law Egypt was issued to be submitted to the People's Assembly and the Shoura Council.

 
According to the Electricity law in Egypt, the Feed in tariff in Egypt shall be approved and announced by the cabinet and it shall not be reduced by more than 2% per annum. The Feed in tariff in Egypt for each kWh of electric power supplied to EETC at the Delivery Point is determined from the discussion of the choice(s) of tariff models. The Feed in tariff in Egypt shall be paid by EETC in LE.
