High participation in the taxi substitution project 13/7/2009
Dr. Youssef Boutros Ghali, the minister of finance, stated
that the bank approvals on the taxi project's loans
increased to 14.331 vehicles since the beginning of the
project in April 2009 until the current month. He also
stated that the taxi producer companies already delivered
4263 taxis with an increase of 99% in comparison with the

First batch of REMENA Master course starts 1/7/2009
The first group of students in the MENA German Renewable
Energy Master Programm met today at Cairo University with
Faculty and Organsizers to start the prepaparory courses.
Prof Adel Khalil from Cairo University and officials from
University Kassel welcomed the students from Syria,

Egypt urges international community to use renewable energy sources 29/6/2009
The 2nd Preparatory conference of the International
Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) kicked off in the Egyptian
Red Sea resort of Sharm El-Sheikh on Monday 29/6/2009.
Delegations from 129 countries are taking part in the two-
day conference.
Addressing the opening session, Electricity Minister
Hassan Younis stressed Egypt's keenness on a wider use of

EU climate and energy package enters into force 25/6/2009
Today a far-reaching package of measures enters into
force that will deliver on the European Union's ambitious

Egypt public sector companies agree to settle electricity debts 22/6/2009
Dr. Hassan Younis, Minister of Electricity and Energy,
confirmed that an agreement was reached between the
electricity distribution companies and the Public sector
companies, in order to pay the 1 billion and 550
million pounds electricity debts of the Public Sector
Companies incured until March 2009 .
